Special offer 3 for £12.00

Specially formulated to provide the perfect growing environment for roses, trees and shrubs, this premium compost contains nutrients that will feed your plants for up to 5 weeks. The added John Innes formula retains and releases water for longer, providing your plants with all they need. In addition slow release phosphorous has been added to promote healthy root growth and establishment. A special wetting agent makes it easier to re wet after drying and horticultural grit allows air and water to move freely for healthy growth.
Our revolutionary ingredient West+ is one of the most significant developments in growing media since the 1950's. Adding West+ to our premium compost range has produced our best ever formula:
  • Produces free draining, easy to wet compost.
  • Creates healthy roots and strong plants.
  • Promotes flowering.
  • Is lightweight for easier lifting.
West+ is made from a sustainable resource.
Uses:
As a planting media when back-filling around roots to encourage fast establishment of plants. Can also be used to fill large pots and containers.

Feeding:
For best results pre-mix Rose, Tree and Shrub plant food granules into the compost before planting, this will provide your plants with a great source of feed at the roots. Apply again after first blooms for longer lasting flowers. Using both methods will ensure your plant remain healthy, producing an abundance of beautiful flowers and foliage.

Nutrient Content & pH:
The compost contains a balanced fertiliser complete with trace elements and has a pH of 5.5 to 6.0.

I've bought a large container that I want to use to plant a specimen tree. What would be the best compost to use for planting?

When you plant anything into a pot or container, it's important to remember that it becomes totally reliant on the growing medium in the pot and on any additional plant food or nutrients that you provide. A specimen tree needs the very best start, so choose a good quality compost that will support it's growth and be suitable for use in containers. It needs to be rich in nutrients and free draining but it also needs good water holding capacity so that it does not dry out too quickly in hot weather. Choose Westland Rose, Tree and Shrub Compost with added John Innes, it also contains the new West + ingredient to promote flowering and support strong and healthy root production which is important for container grown plants.
