Multidisciplinary and creative, Tim has more than 35 years' experience in the landscape, nursery and garden centre markets and started Cedar Nursery in 1986 with his wife, Kate. Since then, he has created many award-winning gardens at Hampton Court Flower Show. Tim also heads the judging team for the Daily Mail National Garden Competition.

Tim has worked worldwide on landscape projects throughout Europe, as well as in Russia and Japan. His continual drive and enthusiasm for Cedar Nursery has meant sustained growth and success for the company which supplies many businesses, individuals and organisations such as RHS Wisley and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

His determination to produce cutting-edge 3D landscape design software has led to his involvement in development projects with Google,amongst others.

Dave Spinks
Nursery Manager

Dave has worked in Garden Centre management for more than 15 years, in both independent and family-run businesses. He joined Cedar Nursery in 2013. Dave has a successful record of sourcing and growing plants from around Europe, specialising in locating varieties which thrive in the UK and is always aiming to try something new.

His knowledge of plants and gardening is immediately apparent and he brings great energy and enthusiasm to the nursery.

Dave loves the more informal type of gardens but moreover his interest lies in the plants themselves.

His top tip for a thriving garden is: “keep your plants fed".

Louise Fifield

Louise's background is from Corporate and the Private sector and is new to the outdoor living sector. She brings with her a wealth of sales, support and management experience to the nursery.

She is very customer focused and enjoys relationship building, with her customers, she believes in treating people how you would like to be treated yourself.

Louise lives with her partner and their 2 cats Ozzi and Lola, she has 2 grown up children and a grandson, she also firm supporter of Dementia UK and The Meningitis Trust.

Don Carroll
Assistant Nursery Manager

A nurseryman's nursery man, Don is Assistant Nursery Manager and works directly under Dave looking after the plant area.

Prior to his training at Merrist Wood, he gained a degree in History, worked in insurance and as a Tax Officer. He has more than 25 years' experience in nursery stock production, including budding, grafting, division and propagation. Don has a special interest in trees and is particularly inspired by the collections at Westonbirt Arboretum.

He favours a spartan and minimalist look in the garden, and his advice is to “keep it neat and tidy". He lives in Surrey with his wife.

Claire Portman

Claire joined Cedar Nursery in Spring 2018 to assist with sales of garden buildings and furniture. She has a sales and project management background in the building industry serving the domestic sector.

When asked what she most enjoys about her job she said ‘It’s the variety of the role and dealing with the general public - meeting and talking with interesting people from all walks of life’.

Claire has one grown up daughter and the other love of her life is her dog Ruby – a Hungarian Vizsla.

Michelle Goodhall

Michelle is a professionally qualified digital marketer working part-time at the Nursery and living locally with her family. She has worked in marketing at small organisations for many years. Before having her children she worked in property management at a large financial investment company.

Michelle is extremely happy to engage with our community and local businesses, highlighting garden trends, new products and plants at Cedar Nursery and organising promotional events.

At the weekend she often visits National Trust and RHS gardens and ls a big fan of walled gardens, meandering garden paths and meadow planting. Her own garden is most often used as a family football pitch so plants have to be tough to withstand a lot! She is always keen to gain family-friendly gardening tips from the Cedar Nursery team.

Jeremy Sharples
Owner - Kitchen in the Garden

Jeremy started up the outdoor kitchen and BBQ centre at Cedar Nursery in 2013 and his role is developing the range of outdoor kitchen products with the aim of catering for budgets ranging from £50 to £50,000!

Jeremy worked in multinational consumer products for more than 25 years and brings this specialism to his role at the Nursery where he is continuing to build up the most outstanding range of BBQs, smokers, wood-fired ovens and outdoor kitchens in the South East.

He is inspired by gardens that are colourful, easy to maintain and where there is a good area to chill and entertain. He lives locally with his wife, almost-grown-up kids and Stanley, a working cocker spaniel.

Louise Jackson
Office Manager

Louise works part-time with Jeremy as part of the Kitchen in the Garden team. She works on anything and everything to support Jeremy manage and develop the business on a day to day basis.

Louise has a Degree in Chemistry, Masters in Environmental Science and Diploma in Business and worked for over ten years in the UK's largest environmental consultancy (at the time) on both Government and private sector projects. She led on both marketing and scientific projects as well as managed her own team. Prior to working at Cedar Nursery, Louise spent 6 years in Geneva, Switzerland, raising her family, learning French and perfecting her skiing!

Louise an accomplished photographer, having had photographs published in magazines and been commissioned at many a happy event from weddings to parties. She can even be spotted taking photos around the nursery. Louise (and her husband in particular) hope that a better understanding of outdoor kitchens may result in her acquiring some better cooking skills!

Jake Witter

Jake has climbed up the ranks from working weekends in the Nursery to now helping develop our website and internal software systems. He's a talented and adaptable techie and when he's not at Cedar Nursery you'll find him studying hard at Bristol University.

Lynda Wales

After a successful city career in law, Lynda turned her skills to horticulture and has been with us since 2005. Enthusiastic, smart and energetic, Lynda juggles two roles at Cedar Nursery.

In addition to being a knowledgeable and experienced member of the nursery team, she also works closely with the landscape design team producing plant placing schemes to deliver the best creative results for her clients.

When she's not living locally with her husband and 3 almost grown-up children, she can be found enjoying the high-life in the Alps.

Carina Horn
Plant Area Assitant

Another member of Cedar Nursery's multi-disciplined team, Carina joined us more than 10 years ago and, over the years, has seen the business grow. During this time she has been active in many different areas but now spends most of her time in the plant area; she has an incredible eye for detail and tidiness.

Carina comes from Norway and brings with her a refreshing, northerly and no-nonsense attitude to all her duties and activities here.

She is a keen horticulturist and spends many hours redesigning and working in her own garden. Carina lives locally with her husband and 3 sons.

Ann Lufflum
Senior Nursery Assistant

A senior member of the Nursery team, Ann started at Cedar Nursery in 2004 after completing her National Diploma in Horticulture at Merrist Wood. She is mainly responsible for plant maintenance, till sales and has expert knowledge on plant cultivation.

Ann is particularly keen on kitchen gardens and is a regular visitor to the gardens at Wisley. She is an inspirational mentor not only to our weekend boys but she also does gardening with teenagers with special needs. Her favourite space in her own garden is her Lenten Rose and fern bed and her advice to would-be gardeners is “go with the soil".

She lives near Epsom with her husband and in spite of grand-parenting duties, she is just as partial to a rock festival as she is to a literary society.

Hector and Stanley
Nursery Dogs

Hector works alongside Stanley as part of the Nursery's canine unit, whose role includes customer liaison and service. As the most alpha member of the team, Hector enjoys certain privileges of his seniority. Although he is a star he keeps it real and is just as happy mixing with A-listers as he is with Z-listers.


Stanley works directly under Oscar in the BBQ and outdoor kitchen department. His role is currently PR but he will continue to take on more responsibilities as he matures. He only works in the mornings and takes his work seriously, clearing away any scraps of food items left lying around as well as recycling gravel through his alimentary canal.
