Vinca minor 'Illumination' (v)
Common name: Lesser Periwinkle 'Illumination'
Description: This outstanding variegated selection of the native periwinkle offers exceptional foliage interest with glossy leaves boldly splashed with bright golden-yellow centres and irregular dark green margins. The luminous variegation is particularly effective for brightening shaded areas, where it creates pools of light amongst darker plantings. In spring, the characteristic periwinkle-blue flowers appear amongst the colourful foliage, adding another dimension to the display. The trailing evergreen stems root as they spread, forming an effective weed-suppressing carpet. This is an invaluable plant for illuminating difficult dry shade under trees, clothing banks, or edging shaded paths where its bright foliage can truly shine. The variegation remains stable and vibrant throughout the year.
