Acer saccharinum - 14-16 cm Std 45 litre

An excellent deciduous tree, commonly known as Silver maple, for structure and long-term presence, notable for fine autumn tints.

Growing to around 8m tall by 5m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. It produces yellow flowers, with attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees.
