Pyrus salicifolia 'Pendula'
(Full plant info in our Plant Finder)
Common name: Weeping Silver Pear
Description: This elegant ornamental tree is renowned for its gracefully weeping branches and distinctive silver-grey foliage. The narrow, willow-like leaves are densely covered with fine silvery hairs when young, creating a shimmering effect that catches the light beautifully. As the season progresses, the leaves mature to grey-green whilst retaining their attractive silvery sheen. In mid to late spring, clusters of small creamy-white flowers appear before the foliage is fully developed, creating a delicate display against the silvery stems. The weeping habit forms a naturally rounded crown with cascading branches that sweep elegantly towards the ground. Small, hard, inedible pear fruits may develop in autumn but are insignificant. 'Pendula' makes an outstanding specimen tree for smaller gardens, providing year-round architectural interest and a soft, romantic quality to planting schemes.
