Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' (P)
(Full plant info in our Plant Finder)
Common name: Bloodgood Japanese Maple
Description: This outstanding cultivar of the Japanese Maple is renowned for its exceptional deep burgundy-red foliage that maintains its rich colour throughout the growing season. The five-lobed, palmate leaves emerge in spring with intense crimson tones and deepen to a magnificent dark red-purple in summer. Unlike many red-leaved maples, 'Bloodgood' retains its colour well even in partial shade. In autumn, the foliage transforms to brilliant scarlet before dropping. The tree develops an attractive rounded, spreading canopy with graceful branching. Small reddish flowers appear in spring before the leaves emerge, followed by attractive winged seeds. This reliable and vigorous variety makes an excellent specimen tree or focal point in the garden.
Other benefits: excellent colour retention, reliable growth habit, outstanding autumn display, architectural form
