Solid Oak Garages
Cedar Nursery is pleased to offer bespoke Solid Oak Garages combining traditional building methods with the strength and durability of Britain's favourite wood.
We can supply the oak frame as well as many different styles of roof to match your individual needs. We only use Green Oak in all our construction, including frames, tie beams, braces, soleplates, studwork, cladding and rafters. All joints are precisely cut and use the traditional method of draw pegging to hold them in place.
Our standard range oak garages all have ridge heights under 4m, and 1 bay and 2 bay garages are both under 30m2, usually negating the need for planning permission. Our oak framed garages can be fully erected by us, including foundation and roofing installation, or, delivered in kit form with the necessary instructions and wooden jointing pegs.
We also offer a fully bespoke option for garages, please contact us with your request.
Fresh Sawn Oak is used for the Pergola Construction
Oak is a common and iconic symbol of strength and endurance and has been an integral element of architectural history for many centuries. Its inherent sturdiness and durability make it an ideal material for use in construction, while its appealing grain markings and beautiful colour make it an aesthetically desirable finished product.
Most of the oak used in Britain today comes from Europe - mainly France where it is farmed as a commercial crop and where its planting, growth and harvesting are carefully and reliably managed. The whole operation is sustainable and ecologically sound and we can take comfort in knowing that oak will be enjoyed as a valuable raw material for many years to come.
Our oak framed garden structures are built using the same traditional 'post-and-beam' construction methods used by our ancestors. Each individual joint is precisely cut to ensure a snug fit and is securely held in place with oak pegs.
We also let you choose precisely how involved you wish to be in the construction of your outdoor building. From the supply of the basic frame and assembly instructions right through to an all-inclusive build, the management of your project can be very flexible and determined during initial discussions with our landscape and garden building design team.
Frequently Asked Questions - Oak Garages
Will we need planning permission & building regulations?
You may be able to build without planning permission under what is called "Permitted Development" but, as with all building work, the owner of the property (or land) in question is ultimately responsible for complying with the relevant planning rules and building regulations (regardless of the need to apply for planning permission and/or building regulations approval or not). The general advice is to always discuss your proposals with the relevant Local Planning Authority and Building Control Service prior to works commencing.
