Acer negundo 'Winter Lightning' - 12 litre
A handsome deciduous tree that makes a fine specimen in the garden, notable for fine autumn tints.
Reaching around 5m tall by 4m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. It produces white flowers in spring, with attractive yellow bark and green fruits. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.

A striking form of the accommodating box elder. This has bark that is brightly coloured in shades of yellow or golden yellow, a highlight during winter. The tree is sometimes grown in the same manner as the dogwoods, being cut back to the central trunk, a few feet from ground level in spring, so that the especially bright young growth becomes the primary feature of interest. The broad, variably lobed leaves are green but turn yellow and gold in autumn. These are held on red-orange young stems which retain their colour well.
