A handsome deciduous tree, commonly known as Japanese maple, that makes a fine specimen in the garden, notable for fine autumn tints.

Reaching around 0.7m tall by 0.4m wide at 10 years. It is best in partial to light shade, in acid to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for attractive green bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK.

This compact Japanese maple cultivar produces brilliant spring foliage that emerges in vivid red tones, gradually deepening to burgundy-red through summer before transforming into spectacular orange-red autumn colours.

The deeply lobed, palmate leaves maintain excellent colour throughout the growing season, making 'Shaina' one of the most reliable red-leafed varieties.

This naturally dwarf cultivar develops into a dense, rounded shrub with an attractive branching structure. The inconspicuous purple-red flowers appear in spring, followed by small winged seeds.
