Acer platanoides 'Crimson King'
A handsome deciduous tree, commonly known as Purple leaved Norway maple, that makes a fine specimen in the garden, prized for its autumn colour.
Reaching around 6m tall by 1.5m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. It produces green flowers in spring, with attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
