Common name: century plant
Description: A bold, architectural succulent forming a large rosette of thick, grey-blue, sword-shaped leaves, each edged with sharp spines and tipped with a fierce terminal point. An unmistakable focal point for a sunny patio.
Other benefits: architectural focal point, extremely drought tolerant, low maintenance once established, classic architectural silhouette, tolerant of poor, dry soils

Position: full sun; in the UK best grown in a container and given winter protection or brought under cover
Soil pH: neutral to alkaline; very free-draining
Moisture: well-drained to dry; dislikes winter wet
Winter hardiness: tender; protect from frost, hardy only to around -5°C in very sheltered spots
