Alstroemeria Indian Summer ='Tesronto'
Common name: Peruvian Lily 'Indian Summer'
Description: Alstroemeria Indian Summer ('Tesronto') is a superb, compact and free-flowering perennial producing a continuous succession of richly coloured, trumpet-shaped flowers in warm shades of deep orange, red, and gold with delicate darker markings from early summer right through to the first frosts. It is one of the longest-flowering perennials available for UK gardens and is equally outstanding as a cut flower, with long-lasting stems that are highly prized by florists. Unlike older taller varieties, 'Indian Summer' is a compact, bushy plant that does not require staking and performs beautifully in containers as well as in the border.
Other benefits: one of the longest flowering seasons of any perennial — early summer to first frosts; outstanding cut flower; compact no-stake habit; excellent in containers
Wildlife attraction: bees and other pollinating insects attracted by the nectar-rich flowers
Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 45–60cm x 45cm
Position: full sun to partial shade; sheltered, well-drained border or large container; mulch over crown in winter in colder regions
Soil pH: neutral (pH 6.0–7.0); fertile, well-drained but moisture-retentive soil; add organic matter before planting
Moisture: moderate; water regularly until established; fairly drought tolerant once settled; avoid waterlogging in winter
Winter hardiness: hardy to approximately -10°C; mulch crown in cold regions for added protection
