Betula pendula
A handsome deciduous tree that makes a fine specimen in the garden, prized for its autumn colour.
Reaching around 8m tall by 3m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and prefers moisture-retentive soil. It produces yellow flowers in winter, spring, with attractive silver bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and valuable for wildlife, attracting bees and birds.
