Betula pubescens - Multi-stem

An excellent deciduous tree, commonly known as Downy Hairy White birch, for structure and long-term presence, grown for its yellow flowers in winter, spring.

Growing to around 9m tall by 3m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and prefers moisture-retentive soil. Notable for attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees.
