An elegant deciduous ornamental grass, commonly known as Feather reed grass, bringing movement and texture to plantings, grown for its red flowers in winter, summer, autumn.
It grows to around 2m tall with a spread of 0.6m. Happy in sun or partial shade on most soils, and suits most soils from well-drained to damp and is drought-tolerant once established. Notable for beige fruits. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the fruits provide food for birds. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
