Common name: Everillo Sedge

Description: This vibrant evergreen sedge offers exceptional bright lime-yellow to chartreuse foliage that brings luminous colour to the garden throughout the year. The narrow, arching leaves create a fountain-like mound of intensely coloured foliage that appears to glow, particularly effective in brightening shady corners or creating bold contrast in mixed plantings. The fine-textured, grass-like leaves maintain their brilliant yellow-green colouration through all seasons, providing valuable year-round interest. In late spring to early summer, slender brown flower spikes emerge above the foliage, though the plant is primarily grown for its spectacular foliage colour. 'Everillo' is notably brighter and more yellow than many other sedges, making it an excellent choice for creating highlights and focal points. This tough, versatile sedge tolerates a wide range of conditions and works beautifully in containers, mixed borders, or as striking edging. The electric lime colour combines particularly well with purple, burgundy, and dark green foliage plants.

Other benefits: brilliant year-round lime-yellow foliage, excellent for containers, provides winter colour, low maintenance, tolerates coastal conditions, creates strong visual impact

Wildlife attraction: provides shelter for invertebrates; seeds may attract small birds

Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 0.3m x 0.4m

Position: best in partial shade to shade; colour may bleach slightly in very hot, exposed positions; shows brilliantly in shade

Soil pH: adaptable to most soils; performs well in neutral to slightly acidic conditions

Moisture: moderate to high moisture requirements; prefers consistently moist but well-drained soil; less drought tolerant than some sedges

Winter hardiness: fully hardy to -15°C
