A first-rate deciduous large shrub or small tree, commonly known as Chinese dogwood, offering real character in the landscape, prized for its autumn colour.
Expect it to reach around 2.5m tall by 1.5m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. It produces white flowers in spring, summer, with red fruits. Reliably hardy across most of the UK and the fruits provide food for birds.
