Corylus avellana (Hazel)
A handsome deciduous large shrub or small tree, commonly known as Common hazel, that makes a fine specimen in the garden, prized for its autumn colour.
Reaching around 3m tall by 2m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. Notable for attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and valuable for wildlife, attracting bees and birds.
