African Marigold 'Taishan Orange'

Common name: African marigold

Description: One of the most impressive marigolds available, 'Taishan Orange' bears enormous, fully double, densely petalled pompom flowerheads in glowing orange from early summer right through to the first frosts. The compact, bushy plants are remarkably weather-resistant and free-flowering, producing a bold, cheerful display in borders, patio containers, and cutting gardens.

Wildlife attraction: Bees and hoverflies are attracted to the flowers throughout summer.

Position: Full sun; thrives in a warm, open position.

Soil pH: Neutral; tolerant of most garden soils provided drainage is reasonable.

Moisture: Moderate; water regularly but avoid waterlogging. Drought-tolerant once established.

Winter hardiness: Frost-tender half-hardy annual; plant out from mid-May once all risk of frost has passed and enjoy until the first frosts of autumn.
