Description: 'Burpless Tasty Green' F1 is a highly reliable outdoor cucumber producing a generous crop of long, slender, dark green fruits with a crisp texture and mild, refreshing flavour. As the name suggests, the thin-skinned fruits contain fewer of the compounds that cause digestive discomfort in some people. The vigorous climbing plants produce abundantly from midsummer through to early autumn and perform well in a sheltered outdoor spot as well as under glass.

Position: Full sun in a warm, sheltered spot; a south-facing fence or wall is ideal.

Soil pH: Neutral; rich, fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil.

Moisture: Water consistently and generously; cucumbers require plentiful, even moisture to produce straight, quality fruits. Feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser once flowering begins.

Winter hardiness: Frost-tender perennial grown as a half-hardy annual; plant out once all risk of frost has passed and bring indoors or discard in autumn.
