Digitalis 'Hanabee White'
Description: Digitalis 'Hanabee White' is a compact, truly perennial foxglove that defies the biennial nature of traditional varieties, reliably returning year after year in South England gardens. This charming cultivar produces dense spikes of pure white, bell-shaped tubular flowers with delicately spotted throats from late spring through summer. Unlike towering traditional foxgloves, this variety maintains a neat, clump-forming habit, reaching just 40–60 cm in height, making it ideal for border fronts, cottage gardens, and container planting. The semi-evergreen basal rosettes of mid-green foliage provide year-round structure. Hanabee White is exceptionally attractive to bees, bumblebees, and other pollinators, making it invaluable for pollinator-friendly planting schemes. Hardy once established and low-maintenance, it thrives in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade to full sun. Its compact stature and prolific flowering habit offer graceful vertical interest without dominating smaller spaces. All parts are toxic if ingested, so care should be taken in gardens accessed by children or pets.
