Eucalyptus gunnii France Bleu ='Rengun'
Common name: Cider gum
Description: Eucalyptus gunnii 'France Bleu' is a compact, dwarf form of the popular cider gum, bred specifically for smaller gardens, patios, and container growing. It forms a neat, bushy shrub clothed in intensely aromatic, oval to strap-like, silvery blue-green juvenile leaves that are retained with annual pruning each spring. Unlike the standard cider gum, which can grow several metres per year, 'France Bleu' is far more manageable, reaching a maximum of around 2m without annual cutting back.
Other benefits: striking blue-grey aromatic foliage year-round, compact and controllable, excellent for containers and small gardens, good for fragrant cut foliage, autumn flowers attract pollinators
Wildlife attraction: White autumn flowers attract bees and other pollinators.
Height & spread (approx.) at maturity: 1.5–2m x 0.5–1m (pruned annually to maintain compact habit and juvenile foliage)
Position: Full sun in a sheltered position away from cold drying winds; south or west facing.
Soil pH: Acid to neutral; moist but well-drained soil. Avoid waterlogging.
Moisture: Moderate; keep moist, especially in the first year. Drought-tolerant once established.
Winter hardiness: Hardy to -15°C (H5) once established; protect young plants from severe frosts.
