Lathyrus odoratus 'Cupid Mix' (Sweet Pea)
Common name: Sweet Pea 'Cupid Mix'
Description: Lathyrus odoratus 'Cupid Mix' is a charming dwarf sweet pea producing a delightful mix of fragrant flowers in a range of soft pastel and vivid colours on compact, bushy plants that require no staking or support. Unlike climbing sweet peas, 'Cupid Mix' is ideally suited to containers, hanging baskets, and window boxes, where its naturally mounding, trailing habit creates an attractive and delightfully fragrant display. The flowers are produced freely through summer and are excellent for cutting, filling any room with their characteristic sweet perfume.
Other benefits: dwarf habit requires no staking; excellent in containers, baskets, and window boxes; delightfully fragrant; good for cutting
Wildlife attraction: bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects
Height & spread (approx.) at maturity: 20–30cm x 30cm (dwarf, bushy)
Position: full sun; containers, hanging baskets, window boxes, and front-of-border planting
Soil pH: neutral (pH 6.5–7.5); fertile, well-drained soil or compost; benefits from added organic matter
Moisture: regular watering required; do not allow to dry out — this reduces flowering; feed with a balanced fertiliser through the season
Winter hardiness: half-hardy annual; sow under glass from late winter or direct outdoors from spring
