Mentha spicata var. crispa 'Moroccan' (Garden Mint)
Description: Moroccan Mint is a vigorous, fully hardy herbaceous perennial renowned for its distinctive sweet spearmint flavour and intensely aromatic, bright green crinkled foliage. Traditionally used across North Africa to prepare authentic mint tea, this variety delivers the classic refreshing taste that defines Moroccan hospitality. The plant grows as an upright, bushy perennial reaching 40–60 cm in height with a spreading habit, making it ideal for container cultivation where its underground runners can be controlled. Moroccan Mint thrives in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil and performs best in full sun to partial shade. It flowers throughout summer, producing small mauve or pink blooms that attract bees, butterflies and beneficial pollinators. The foliage remains aromatic year-round and is excellent for fresh harvesting in the kitchen—ideal for mint tea, cocktails, salads, sauces, desserts and summer drinks. Fully hardy to RHS H7, it dies back in winter and reliably returns each spring, making it a rewarding addition to South England herb gardens, raised beds and patios. Regular harvesting encourages bushy, vigorous regrowth.
