Sweet Pepper 'Redskin' F1
Description: The Redskin sweet pepper is a compact, dwarf variety bred for prolific cropping in confined spaces and cooler climates. This half-hardy annual produces thick-walled, sweet red capsicum peppers with juicy, mild flesh ideal for salads, stir-fries, and stuffing. An early-maturing cultivar, it begins fruiting from mid-summer through early autumn, with plants typically yielding 8–12 fruits per season in South England gardens. The bushy, branching habit reaches 30–45 cm tall, making it exceptionally well-suited to container growing on patios, balconies, and sunny windowsills, as well as traditional vegetable beds. Redskin thrives in warm, sheltered positions with full sun exposure and well-drained, fertile soil or compost. Although tender to frost, it responds well to outdoor planting after the last spring frost (typically mid-May in South England), greenhouse cultivation, or indoor growing on bright south-facing sills. The variety is beginner-friendly, requiring minimal intervention beyond regular watering, weekly high-potash feeding once flowers set, and a light pinch of the growing tip at 20 cm to encourage branching and fruit production.
