A worthwhile deciduous fern that adds character to the garden.
It grows to around 2m tall with a spread of 2m. It is best in partial to light shade, in acid to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for ornamental brown stems. Hardy in sheltered gardens, benefiting from a warm wall or winter protection in colder spots. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
