A fine evergreen herbaceous perennial, commonly known as Abyssinian banana, for cottage-style or mixed plantings, providing year-round structure and foliage.
It grows to around 6m tall with a spread of 4m. Happy in sun or partial shade on most soils, and needs good drainage. Hardy in sheltered gardens, benefiting from a warm wall or winter protection in colder spots. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
