A first-rate deciduous tree, commonly known as Purple dawyck beech, offering real character in the landscape, notable for fine autumn tints.
Expect it to reach around 2.5m tall by 1.5m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and prefers moisture-retentive soil. Notable for attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and valuable for wildlife, attracting bees and birds. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
