This handsome hebe is at its best during the winter months when its leaves are imbued with strong rose-purple hues that last well into spring. It makes a good rounded shape with upward reaching reddish-brown stems. It has small leaves with red-brown young growth, especially in spring, turning green as the season progresses. In summer the foliage is enlivened by showy violet flowers, which continue until autumn.
