Helleborus argutifollus 'Silver Lace' - 1.5 litre

A fine evergreen herbaceous perennial, commonly known as Corsican hellebore, for cottage-style or mixed plantings, grown for its yellow flowers in winter, spring.

It grows to around 0.45m tall with a spread of 0.5m. It is best in partial to light shade, in alkaline to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Reliably hardy across most of the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees.

Spreading but elegant and full of character, this has long spiky-edged leaves that are coloured a silvered green and make a good base for the chunky clusters of pale greenish yellow flowers that appear in winter and early spring. This will gradually establish itself and become a good-sized foliage clump that remains attractive all year. Good in shady or woodland situations since the light colours are appealing, illuminating a dull position.
