Hibiscus moscheutos 'Old Yella'
Common name: Old Yella Hardy Hibiscus
Description: This remarkable cultivar of the Hardy Hibiscus produces enormous, show-stopping blooms that can reach up to 25cm across. The large, creamy yellow flowers feature a distinctive deep burgundy-red centre that creates a striking contrast against the pale petals. Each flower lasts just one day, but the plant produces a continuous succession of blooms from midsummer through to the first frosts. The large, heart-shaped leaves provide an attractive backdrop to the spectacular flowers. This herbaceous perennial dies back completely in winter, emerging late in spring with vigorous new growth. 'Old Yella' makes an excellent specimen plant or dramatic addition to mixed borders, bringing a tropical feel to temperate gardens.
