Liriodendron tulipifera

An excellent deciduous tree for structure and long-term presence, prized for its sweetly scented yellow blooms.

Growing to around 7m tall by 4m wide at 10 years. It is best in full sun, though it tolerates some shade, in acid soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for good autumn colour and attractive grey bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the flowers are a good nectar source for bees.
