An excellent deciduous large shrub or small tree for structure and long-term presence, prized for its sweetly scented purple blooms.
Growing to around 2m tall by 2m wide at 10 years. It is best in full sun, though it tolerates some shade, in acid to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for attractive brown bark. Fully hardy throughout the UK. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
