Magnolia x soulangeana
An excellent deciduous tree, commonly known as Saucer magnolia, for structure and long-term presence, valued for its fragrant white flowers.
Growing to around 6m tall by 4m wide at 10 years. It is best in full sun, though it tolerates some shade, in acid to neutral soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for good autumn colour and attractive grey bark. Reliably hardy across most of the UK.
