A New Zealand apple, raised in the Wairarapaq Valley in 1934. It is grown in many countries of the world and is well known because of its exposure in supermarkets. It is a good looking apple with its cheery orange red coloration. With appearance being a major constituent of success in retailing, it is popular. It has a juicy, fragrant quality as an eating apple. It is picked in early October and makes good eating as a UK grown product from October to the end of winter. Rootstock MM106 (Semi-vigorous) - up to 3-5m in height - larger, robust tree for grassed orchards, not suitable for small gardens, may need support for 5 years.
