A handsome deciduous tree, commonly known as Eating apple, that makes a fine specimen in the garden.

Reaching around 2m tall by 2m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil. Notable for red fruits. Hardy in most conditions and valuable for wildlife, attracting bees and birds.

Come and see this plant at our Cobham nursery, or get in touch for current availability.

This New Zealand-bred variety has become increasingly popular in British gardens for its reliable cropping and excellent eating qualities.

Gala produces medium-sized fruit with distinctive red striping over a yellow background, offering sweet, aromatic flesh with a pleasant, mild flavour.

The tree is moderately vigorous with a naturally compact habit, making it ideal for smaller gardens. Pink-tinged white spring blossoms provide excellent pollination value. Gala ripens relatively early in the season and, whilst not a long keeper, provides excellent fresh eating from late summer through autumn
