Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal'
A graceful deciduous ornamental grass valued for its natural habit, notable for fine autumn tints.
It grows to around 1.5m tall with a spread of 1m. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. It produces pink flowers in summer. Reliably hardy across most of the UK and a useful plant for birds. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
