Platanus x hispanica
An excellent deciduous tree, commonly known as London plane tree, for structure and long-term presence, notable for fine autumn tints.
Growing to around 10m tall by 4m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun on most soils, and grows well in reasonably drained soil and is drought-tolerant once established. Notable for attractive red bark and brown fruits. Fully hardy throughout the UK and the fruits provide food for birds. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
