Description: This exquisite Japanese flowering cherry is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic of all ornamental cherries, producing an absolutely breathtaking display of large, semi-double to double flowers in late spring. The blooms emerge from pink buds and open to reveal layers of delicate, frilly petals in the palest blush-pink that gradually fade to pure white, creating a stunning ombré effect. Each flower can measure up to 6cm across and hangs in elegant clusters from the spreading branches, creating the effect of a pink and white floral cascade. The flowers have a sweet fragrance and appear as the fresh bronze-tinted young foliage emerges, providing a beautiful colour combination. In autumn, the foliage transforms into attractive shades of orange and red. The tree develops a broad, spreading, vase-shaped habit with gracefully arching branches that create an elegant silhouette.
