Rootgrow With Gel Sachet

Description: rootgrow™ with Gel by PlantWorks UK is the specialist version of the RHS-licensed rootgrow™ mycorrhizal fungi, designed specifically for the planting of bare-root trees and shrubs. Whilst the standard rootgrow™ granules work perfectly for container-grown plants, bare-root plants present a particular challenge - their roots need direct contact with the mycorrhizal fungi immediately at planting, and loose granules alone cannot always guarantee full, even coverage across an exposed root system. The included dipping gel solves this elegantly, providing a simple and highly effective method of coating every root with mycorrhizal fungi before planting.

The gel powder mixes with water to form a thick, adhesive dipping solution that suspends the rootgrow™ granules evenly throughout. Bare roots are dipped into this solution just before planting, ensuring every part of the root system receives a thorough, even coating of mycorrhizal fungi. This maximises the contact between fungi and roots from the very first moment of planting, giving bare-root plants the best possible start.

Once in the ground, the fungi rapidly colonise the root system and extend outwards through the surrounding soil as a dense network of fine fungal filaments - far finer than the plant's own roots and capable of penetrating into areas the roots could never reach alone. This dramatically increases the volume of soil the plant can access for water and nutrients, supporting faster establishment, stronger growth, greater drought resilience, and reduced dependence on supplementary feeding. A single application at planting time supports the plant for its entire lifetime.

This product is ideal for the autumn and winter bare-root planting season, when trees, hedging, roses, and shrubs are available at their most economical and establish most readily. Combining bare-root planting with rootgrow™ Gel gives newly planted specimens every possible advantage during the critical first growing season.

How to use:

Step 1: Pour the gel powder sachet into a clean bucket and add the recommended amount of cold water. Stir well and leave for 5 minutes until a thick gel forms.

Step 2: Add the rootgrow™ granules to the gel and stir well until the granules are evenly distributed throughout the solution.

Step 3: Dip the bare roots of the plant into the solution, ensuring complete and even coverage across all roots.

Step 4: Lift the plant out and allow any excess solution to drain back into the bucket, then plant immediately.

Step 5: Backfill, firm in, and water thoroughly.

Dosage: Allow approximately 5g of rootgrow™ per litre of plant rootball volume. Full dosage guidance is provided on the packet.

Important note: rootgrow™ with Gel must be applied at the time of planting to be effective - it cannot be used as a top dressing after planting. Plant immediately after dipping for best results. For best results, use within 12 months of opening.

Please note: rootgrow™ is not suitable for use with Brassicas, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Heathers, Cranberries, or Blueberries. For Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Heathers, Blueberries, and other ericaceous plants, please use rootgrow™ Ericoid instead.
