Strobilanthes anisophylla Brunetthy ='Lankveld15'
Common name: Persian Shield / Strobilanthes 'Brunetthy'
Description: Strobilanthes anisophylla Brunetthy ('Lankveld15') is a handsome evergreen shrub grown principally for its striking, glossy foliage which catches the light with an attractive iridescent purple-blue sheen — particularly vivid on the undersides of the leaves. In late summer and autumn it produces small, tubular blue-purple flowers that add further ornamental interest. This is a relatively new and exciting introduction to the hardy garden plant repertoire, offering year-round foliage interest and a level of colour and sophistication that is unusual among hardy shrubs. It is best grown in a sheltered position and is particularly effective in combination with gold-foliaged or white-flowered companions.
