Trachycarpus fortunei

A worthwhile evergreen palm that adds character to the garden, providing year-round structure and foliage.

Growing to around 5m tall by 2m wide at 10 years. Happy in full sun, though it tolerates some shade on most soils, and needs good drainage and is drought-tolerant once established. Notable for attractive green bark. Reliably hardy across most of the UK. Holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit.
