Viburnum x bodnantense 'Dawn'
Common name: Dawn Bodnant Viburnum
Description: A much-loved RHS Award of Garden Merit shrub, Viburnum x bodnantense 'Dawn' is a vigorous, upright, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub renowned for its outstanding winter interest. From late autumn through to early spring, densely packed clusters of richly fragrant, rose-pink flowers open from deep pink buds on bare stems, bringing warmth and scent to the winter garden at its quietest. Leaves emerge in spring with attractive bronze tints, maturing to deep green through summer. In autumn, the foliage transforms into vibrant shades of orange and yellow before leaf drop, while small berries ripen from red to black. With a long season of interest and a fragrance strong enough to be enjoyed from a distance, 'Dawn' is ideally placed near an entrance, path, or frequently visited spot in the garden.
