Weigela florida 'Red Prince'

Common name: Red Prince Weigela

Description: This vigorous deciduous shrub creates a stunning floral display with its profusion of vibrant crimson-red tubular flowers from late spring through early summer. The trumpet-shaped blooms are arranged in clusters along arching branches, creating a spectacular show that often repeats with a lighter flush in late summer. The dark green ovate leaves provide an excellent backdrop to the brilliant flowers and take on subtle purple tints in autumn. 'Red Prince' has a naturally rounded, spreading habit that requires minimal pruning beyond removing old wood after flowering. This reliable performer is perfect for mixed borders, informal hedging, or as a standalone specimen where its bold colour can be appreciated.
