x Cuprocyparis leylandii 'Castlewellan Gold'
Common name: Castlewellan Gold Leyland Cypress
Description: This outstanding golden cultivar is renowned for its rich bronze-gold foliage that provides exceptional year-round colour. The dense, soft-textured foliage emerges bright golden-yellow in spring and deepens to warm bronze-gold tones in winter, creating a glowing presence in the garden during the coldest months. 'Castlewellan Gold' has a slightly more compact and slower growth rate than the common Leyland Cypress, making it easier to manage whilst still providing effective screening. The naturally conical habit creates an elegant silhouette, whether grown as a specimen, hedge, or windbreak. This cultivar is particularly valued for adding warmth and light to winter gardens.
Other benefits: evergreen golden foliage, stunning bronze-winter colour, compact growth habit, excellent for hedging and specimens, wind tolerant
Wildlife attraction: nesting birds, shelter for wildlife
Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 4m x 2m
