Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg' (P)
(Full plant info in our Plant Finder)
Common name: Trompenburg Japanese Maple
Description: This distinctive cultivar of the Japanese Maple features unique deeply divided leaves with narrow, pointed lobes that create an almost skeletal appearance. The foliage emerges in spring with rich burgundy-red tones that gradually mature to deep purple-red through summer. What sets 'Trompenburg' apart is its unusual leaf shape - the lobes are so deeply cut and narrow that they appear almost linear, giving the tree a very distinctive texture. The leaves have a tendency to curl slightly along their edges, adding to the plant's unique character. In autumn, the foliage turns brilliant orange-red before dropping. This slow-growing variety develops an upright, vase-shaped habit with elegant branching structure.
