Details
Common name: thread agave
Description: A distinctive agave forming a dense, spherical rosette of many thin, dark green leaves, each edged with fine, curling white threads rather than teeth, giving the plant a softer, more textured look than most agave species.
Other benefits: architectural focal point, extremely drought tolerant, low maintenance once established, unusual fibrous leaf margins for textural contrast
Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 0.6m x 0.6m (in a container in the UK)
Position: full sun; in the UK best grown in a container and given winter protection or brought under cover
Soil pH: neutral to alkaline; very free-draining
Moisture: well-drained to dry; dislikes winter wet
Winter hardiness: tender; protect from frost
