Allium 'Mont Blanc'
Common name: Mont Blanc Ornamental Onion
Description: This elegant ornamental allium produces pristine white, spherical flowerheads that create stunning architectural accents in late spring to early summer gardens. 'Mont Blanc' features densely packed, star-shaped pure white flowers that form perfect globular heads atop strong, sturdy stems. The clean white blooms provide a sophisticated contrast to purple allium varieties and blend beautifully with other spring perennials. The narrow, strap-like blue-green foliage emerges in early spring, gradually yellowing and retreating as the spectacular flowers reach their peak. The attractive papery seed heads that follow extend the ornamental value and can be left for winter interest or used in dried arrangements.
Other benefits: superb cut flower with long vase life, deer and rabbit resistant, elegant addition to white garden schemes
Wildlife attraction: bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects are drawn to the nectar-rich white blooms
Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 75cm x 15cm (individual stems), spreads gradually through natural bulb division
Position: full sun for best flowering; tolerates partial shade but blooms may be less prolific
Soil pH: adaptable to various soil conditions; thrives in neutral to slightly alkaline soils
Moisture: moderate watering during active growth; excellent drainage essential; drought tolerant during dormancy
