Anemone x hybrida 'September Charm'
Common name: Japanese Anemone 'September Charm'
Description: This elegant herbaceous perennial produces a profusion of delicate, single-petalled flowers in a soft silvery-pink shade from late summer through autumn. Each bloom features a central boss of golden-yellow stamens that creates a beautiful contrast against the pale petals. The flowers are held on tall, slender stems that sway gracefully above mounds of attractive, dark green, vine-like foliage. 'September Charm' is particularly valued for its reliable performance and extended flowering period, providing much-needed colour when many other perennials have finished blooming. The plant spreads gradually to form substantial clumps, making it excellent for filling gaps in borders or naturalising in woodland gardens.
Other benefits: long flowering season from August to October, excellent cut flower, low maintenance once established, good ground cover
Wildlife attraction: bees, butterflies, hoverflies, pollinators
Height & spread (approx.) at 10 years: 1m x 0.6m (can spread wider if left undisturbed)
Position: best in partial shade; tolerates full sun if soil remains moist; ideal for woodland edges or dappled shade
Soil pH: adaptable; prefers neutral to slightly alkaline conditions
Moisture: requires consistent moisture, especially during establishment; benefits from mulching; avoid waterlogged conditions
