Delphinium varieties
Common name: Delphinium
Description: Delphiniums are among the most iconic and spectacular of all British herbaceous border plants, producing magnificent towering spires of flowers in shades of blue, violet, purple, white, and pink from early to midsummer, with many producing a second flush later in the season if cut back after flowering. The blooms are densely packed along tall, upright stems that create an unrivalled vertical accent in the back of a border, and the range of blue tones available is unmatched by almost any other hardy garden plant. They are long-lived when grown well and are a key component of the classic English border.
Other benefits: outstanding vertical accent, wide colour range, repeat-flowering if cut back, good for cutting, classic cottage and formal garden style
Wildlife attraction: bees and bumblebees are strongly attracted to the flower spires throughout summer
